To get a library card, you can stop by the library, or complete our online form and we will mail your library card.

Updating Your Library Card
For your protection, Powhatan County Public Library requires that you periodically update your card. This guarantees your address, phone number and email address are correct. 

Required Before Using Materials
You may need to update your card before you will be allowed to reserve or renew library materials or view your patron record online. Please call us at 804-598-5670; email us at library@powahtanlibrary.net; or stop by the library to update your card.


Borrowing Terms

Material Limit
The maximum number of physical items that a cardholder may have checked out is 50. There is a 10-item limit on DVDs and audiobooks, which are included in the 50.

e-Resources
The check out limit for e-resources is independent of the limit of physical items and varies by provider. Overdrive has a limit of 12 items at once and Freading has a limit of 3 items per week. There are no fines or fees for using an e-resource.

Check Out Time & Renewals
All library materials circulate for 14 days. Most items can be renewed 3 times; however high demand items may not be renewed due to holds.
