Looney or Too Much on Your Mind?

The other day I was busily getting dinner ready.  Trying for a change to get dinner cooking in the mid afternoon so it would be ready when my husband came home from work.

I dropped a 5 lb. bag of sugar.  It went into a nice little pile on the tile and the rug in front of the kitchen sink.

My thoughts were ... "hmmm, I can't vacuum it up now, Brady  is still napping.  It will wake him for sure."  So, I stepped over the pile until he woke up.  When he did, in a matter of 4 hours, I went to get the vacuum cleaner, had to take him to potty, then laundry, then read a book, then take a bath.  The whole time, I was saying to Curtis ... I am going to get the vacuum and get up the sugar in a few minutes.  The night seemed to fly by.  After baths, time for bed again.  We tucked Brady in and I went to get the vacuum cleaner.  Then the phone rang.  A minute later, I went to check on Brady ... asleep already!  I went to the kitchen and looked at the sugar ... Curtis came walking around the corner about the same time.  Of course, I had to wait until morning now with the sugar.  Didn't want to wake Brady.  I sighed and shook my head.

About that time, Curtis reached down, rolled up the rug and took it outside and shook off the sugar.  I stood there totally silent.  He got the broom and swept up the sugar ... and I stood there silent.

He looked over at me and smiled ... All I could say to myself was "dummy ... dummy ... dummy" - with so much technology and fancy gadgets we have, "Lord please don't let me forget that I do own a broom"

I don't think I will ever live that evening down.  And we have laughed many times about it.

So, I ask ... do we just get Looney sometimes or do we have so much on our mind that we can't think?

I plan on taking a few days vacation shortly ... and clear this old mind ...  Won't you be proud?  :-)
