I am married to Cameron Sellers, and own a home and business in Powhatan.  My husband is a Henrico Firefighter and he also volunteers in District 5. Our children Hunter and Jake attend
Powhatan Junior High School and
Pocahontas Elementary.

I stay informed on County Business by attending many meetings and events such as the County School Board, Planning Commission, and Board of Supervisors meetings!

In the last nine years I have been actively involved in the Powhatan School System.  I have been the current and past PTO President (3 years at two schools), an active volunteer room mother, teacher’s helper and have been involved in many other projects relating to our schools and county.

I have seen first hand where we are strong and where we could use improvement.   I have no political aspirations except to become elected to the Powhatan School Board and serve District 5
in this role.

Stephanie Sellers is a Mom Who Cares and Stands For:

Educational Success for Each and Every Student - We need to create opportunities for all students and avoid the incidences of those dropping through the cracks..

Safety in our Schools - She will work with the Board and the administration to locate and apply for various grants such as the Homeland Security grants available to assist with school safety and emergency preparedness.  This will not cost tax payers and will provide additional resources to ensure our children are safe within the umbrella of “being at school”.  Our children’s safety is paramount to their learning experience.

Growth Issues and Our Schools - Students, teachers and tax payers are feeling the impact of growth to our county.  We need to find creative solutions to meet the growing demands placed on our school system. This will involve teamwork between the planning commission, board of supervisors,
public hearings and the school system.

Faculty Compensation - We have an excellent school system, teacher pool, and staff.  We must continue to put operational expense as a top priority and ensure that we retain our experienced teachers and staff by rewarding them with a safe working environment along with a salary compensatory to the surrounding counties. She supports continuing and expanding professional development training for teachers and staff members.
