Area six headquarters for the Virginia State Police is located at 1818 Page Road just off Route 60 in the eastern Powhatan County. Officers assigned to this jurisdiction also work Amelia and Chesterfield counties.

State Police handle requests made of them 24 hours a day, with seven-day-a week coverage.

Troopers investigate motor vehicle crashes, work radar, patrol all primary and secondary highways, answer calls for assistance ,and give safety talks to the public and private school systems.

A trooper’s primary responsibility is highway safety through education and enforcement. They assist with crime prevention, drug enforcement and assist the Sheriff’s Department with any requests they have.

Area Six State Police provides the use of their K-9, Tact Team, Scuba Team, Search Teams and helicopters for the Sheriff’s Department use when requested. Also, the State Police has a mobile command post that is available for use by Powhatan County. This van can be utilized in disaster emergencies or for lengthy searches.

The Virginia State Police also has a concern about increased violent crime and illegal gun recovery. The State Police have taken a more active role in pursuing such investigations.

Any requests for civic programs, crime prevention programs, drug abuse programs, or assistance in general, contact your local state trooper or call 804-379-8645 or 804-553-3445, 24 hours a day
