| Many
people celebrate this day as a "day off". A day to do things around the house ... a day to go to the beach
...
a day to picnic ... a day to sleep in.
There are many who do not even
know the real meaning of this day.
Memorial Day, originally
called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who
have died in our nation's service.
Most Americans nowadays have
forgotten the meaning and traditions of Memorial Day. At many
cemeteries, the graves of the fallen are increasingly ignored,
neglected. People no longer remember the proper flag etiquette
for the day. Many think the day is for honoring any veteran and
all dead, and not just those fallen in service to our country.
Don't get me wrong, we should be thankful for ALL who have
served. But today is the day we remember those who gave
their lives!
On this special day ... please
take the time to be still and look around you ... look at your
freedom ... your family ... and remember what our men and women
DIED for.
And pray for our soldiers and
their families who are serving today - to protect YOU once
again.
