Mr. Beasley is the Commonwealth's Attorney for Powhatan County.  He was elected in November of 1999 and took office January 1, 2000.  Each term he is elected to is for four years.  Mr. Beasley is responsible for the prosecution of all state crimes committed within Powhatan County.

Prior to his election, Mr. Beasley was with the Richmond law firm of LeClair Ryan, where he was a member of the medical litigation team.  Mr. Beasley was with LeClair Ryan from June of 1998 through the end of 1999.  From August 1994 through May 1998 he was an Assistant Attorney General of Virginia.  During that time he served as Director of the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, and as a litigator in the Capital Litigation Unit and in the Criminal Litigation Division.  Prior to his appointment as an Assistant Attorney General, he served four years in The Judge Advocate General's Corps of the United States Army.  His assignments included serving as Special Assistant United States Attorney in Louisville, Kentucky, and as Trial Defense Counsel.  Mr. Beasley began his legal career as a Law Clerk with the Supreme Court of Virginia.

Mr. Beasley received both his law degree and his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Richmond,  He is a 1982 graduate of Powhatan High School.  He is a member of the Bars of the Supreme Court of the United States, the Supreme Court of Virginia, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States District Courts in Virginia, and the United States Army Court of Military Review.  Mr. Beasley also serves as a Deacon in his Church and as Vice President of the Powhatan Loins Club.
