1. Commissioner of the Revenue

    The Office of the Commissioner of the Revenue assesses individual and business taxes.

  2. Commonwealth's Attorney

    This office prosecutes felony and misdemeanor criminal cases in Powhatan General District Court, Powhatan Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court and Powhatan Circuit Court.

  3. Community Development

    The Community Development Department is responsible for several core programs centered around zoning and land ordinances.

  4. County Administration

    The County Administration Office aims to provide the highest quality of customer service by maintaining open communications with the business community, legislative delegation, surrounding local governments and County residents.

  5. County Attorney

    The County Attorney’s Office provides legal counsel and advice in civil matters to the Board of Supervisors and other boards, commissions, agencies and officials of the County as directed by the Board.

  6. Circuit Court

    The Code of Virginia lists more than 800 responsibilities of the Clerk, many of which are complex and challenging.

  7. Economic Development

  8. Finance

    The Finance Department is responsible for the payroll functions for all county employees and budgetary issues of the county.

  9. Fire & Rescue

    The Fire and Rescue Department is responsible for the delivery of fire services, emergency medical services, and the emergency management/disaster management program.

  10. Human Resources

    The Department of Human Resources is responsible for the HR functions for all County employees.

  11. Information Technology

    The Information Technology Department is responsible for several technical items, including the installation, management and function of the County's data and telecom network.

  12. Library

    The purpose of the library is to acquire, organize, provide access and offer guidance to a broad range of information, materials, and services.

  13. Public Works

    The Public Works Department is responsible for recycling and solid waste disposal, facilities management, and utilities.

  14. Real Estate Assessments

    By state law, all real property (the land and the improvements thereon) must be assessed at 100% fair market value.

  15. Sheriff

    Through a partnership with the community, the Sheriff's Office promises to provide all citizens with the highest degree of protection for their lives and property.

  16. Social Services

    The Department of Social Services helps citizens triumph over poverty, abuse and neglect to create strong futures for themselves, their families and our community.

  17. Treasurer

    The Treasurer's Office provide services such as billing and collection of property taxes and selling of dog kennels to the general public.

  18. Voter Registrar

    The Registrar offers information on voting and elections, including voting locations and documents.
