Powhatan County is accepting resumes from qualified applicants for the County’s Volunteer Recruitment and Retention Specialist. This is a part time position, 20 to 25 hours per week, and includes nights and weekends, with a salary of $19.64 per hour.
This position performs administrative and technical work to coordinate the overall volunteer recruitment plan for the County, and to enable the recruitment and retention of emergency service volunteers. This position is funded by a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant, with no expectation of continued employment following grant termination in 2020.
Candidates shall be to manage the development of a long-range plan for the future enhancement and use of volunteers for delivery of emergency services.
The position recruits prospective emergency service volunteerism by scheduling recruiting appointments, public workshops, social media, and developing relationships with local schools and businesses and to promote volunteerism.
Skills & Requirements
The Volunteer Recruitment and Retention Specialist must be enthusiastic, dedicated, motivated and sold on the product, which is the importance of the Fire and Rescue Department, its members, and its work in the community. Preference will be given to applicants possessing valid Virginia State certifications in EMS or Fire Service related subjects. Must possess or obtain (within six months of hire) CPR, NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800.
